Interim Treasurer
Ann is currently the CVS treasurer and has a long history of service in this role. She is happy to continue for one more term but would also be glad to mentor a successor or hand the position over to a younger member.
She served as CVS treasurer from 1982 to 2014, maintaining membership lists and editing the CVS Newsletter from the late 1980s until 2009, continuing to assist with its distribution after it became the CVS Journal.
Ann was a violist with the Ottawa Symphony Orchestra from 1971–2010, principal violist of the Ottawa Chamber Orchestra from 2002–2013, and remains active as a section player in OCO and Principal in the Parkdale Orchestra. While mostly retired from teaching, she still instructs a few adult students.
She handled administrative duties for the International Viola Congress in Guelph (1998–99) and received the International Viola Society Silver Clef in 2000, the CVS Lifetime Achievement Award in 2009, and continues to attend viola congresses and festivals worldwide.
From 1989–2020, Ann was involved with the Gloucester Emergency Food Cupboard (GEFC), serving as organizer, Executive Director, and later board chair, earning the Sovereign’s Medal for Volunteers in 2016. She also directs the Emmanubells Handbell Ensemble in Ottawa and enjoys growing hostas, often speaking to gardening groups about them.
