Chambriste, soliste et musicienne d’orchestre primée de haut niveau, Elvira Misbakhova enchants audiences with her expressive style, bringing life and soul to every musical work she interprets. Described as “sublime et modeste” (MusicWeb International), her innate talent shines in every note. She has performed, improvised, taught masterclasses, founded several Montreal chamber ensembles, and recorded numerous albums.
As a soloist, she has performed with Orchestre Métropolitain, I Musici de Montréal, Trois-Rivières Symphony Orchestra, Drummondville Symphony Orchestra, Belarusian State Chamber Orchestra, Tatarstan State Symphony Orchestra, and chamber orchestra La Primavera. Her studio recordings include albums with the London Symphony Orchestra for Chandos (May 2022) and ATMA (October 2022), as well as a critically acclaimed Chandos album in 2019. Her work has been praised in The Strad, Gramophone, and MusicWeb.
Elvira currently serves as Principal Viola of the Orchestre Métropolitain under Yannick Nézet-Séguin and joined I Musici de Montréal in June 2022. Born in Tatarstan, Russia, she began violin studies at age seven, earned a master’s degree at the Kazan State Conservatory, then moved to Canada for further studies, earning another master’s and a PhD in Music Performance from the University of Montreal in 2005. Her exceptional talent was recognized through multiple awards and a concerto competition win.
